The Penderwicks
Book 1 of the The Penderwicks series
The four Penderwick sisters arrive at a rented cottage in the Berkshires expecting a simple summer holiday with their father and dog. Instead they befriend Jeffrey, the lonely boy living in the neighboring mansion, and quickly clash with his controlling mother. Rosalind, Skye, Jane, and Batty bring different strengths and spectacular complications to the effort to protect their new friend. Sunny, affectionate, and lightly adventurous, this National Book Award winner is an ideal family or vacation read for anyone who misses old-fashioned summer freedom, close sisters, and trouble undertaken for a good cause.
