The Most Boring Book Ever

by Brandon Sanderson

A boy appears to be doing the most boring things imaginable while the words insist that absolutely nothing exciting is happening. Kazu Kibuishi’s illustrations tell a very different story, filling the pages with dragons, airships, danger, and escalating adventure around the supposedly mundane narration. The humor comes from the deliberate contradiction between what the text says and what readers can plainly see. Brandon Sanderson’s picture book turns the relationship between words and pictures into the central joke, rewarding children for noticing that the official narrator may be the least reliable source on the page.
