Anne of Green Gables
Book 1 of the Anne of Green Gables series
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert expect an orphan boy to help at Green Gables but instead receive Anne Shirley, a talkative red-haired girl with a formidable imagination. Anne longs to belong, yet her temper, dramatic mishaps, and rivalry with Gilbert Blythe repeatedly disrupt her good intentions. Friendship, school ambitions, and the changing seasons of Avonlea gradually give her both roots and room to grow. Funny, tender, and full of Prince Edward Island beauty, this classic is a lovely spring or family read for anyone who wants found family, spirited mistakes, and hope blooming in an unexpected home.
