A Pocket for Corduroy

by Don Freeman

32 pages · First published 1978

Corduroy and Lisa visit a laundromat, where Corduroy hears Lisa mention that his overalls need a pocket. Believing a pocket is something he should have, the little bear wanders off among the laundry in search of one and creates a nighttime adventure of his own. Lisa eventually finds him and gives him what he was looking for in a far more personal way. Don Freeman’s sequel to Corduroy combines a child-sized misunderstanding with a warm story about belonging and the difference between acquiring something and receiving it from someone who loves you.
